Hi Everybody!
Karen and I are safely in Christchurch. We had a long travel day yesterday. We went from Hobart back to Melbourne. We then hauled all our gear to the International Terminal and after a 3 hour wait we flew to Christchurch. We then went through Biosecurity at the Christchurch Airport. We were sure to let them know we had our fishing gear and camping gear. They went through it all. They decided to treat our waders, wading boots, runners, sandles and some parts of the tent even though we thoroughly cleaned them. They could tell we made an effort to ensure everything was clean but they still wanted to be sure we were were not bringing any little creature, plant or otherwise into the country. We checked into a hotel at midnight and we will be chasing our Wicked van in the next hour or so. We are planning to head to the north of the South Island to explore and do some fly fishing.
We even got to experience an afterschock from the big earthquake that occurred here in September. We were still in bed and the entire room started to shake for about 10 seconds. I guess this area gets afterschocks everyday.
